With the sad demise of SBS transmissions on the Optus D1 satellite you may be thinking you’d be missing out on the Eurovision Song Contest from Baku, Azerbaijan. It will be available (with Dutch commentary) on BVN on Optus D2 vertical.
The times this week (if you’re watching in NZ) are apparently:
Round 1 : Wednesday 7am -9am repeated 7pm-9pm
Round 2 : Friday 7am-9am repeated 7pm-9pm
Final : Sunday 7am-10am repeated 7pm-9pm
(I originally thought they were the Dutch times, and New Zealand is 10 hours ahead, but I’ve been told (thanks Grolschie) that the BVN website knew I was in NZ and changed all its times appropriately.)
Of course you need a dish pointing at the Optus D2 satellite. The easiest way if you have an existing dish picking up Freeview Sat or Sky (on Optus D1 horizontal) is to add a second LNB on the same dish (with a KU LNB extender) and put a multiswitch between the LNBs and your receivers.
From past experience, Eurovision is best enjoyed if participating in a drinking game.
In my humble opinion Lithuania’s entry from 2001 is the best ever Eurovision song:
